Prompt, clear communication of safety
information can save lives and property. The aim of installing fire safety identification signs is to provide the following
healthy & safety information to employees and visitors:
- Where and what type of fire extinguisher is present.
- Which types of fire the particular extinguisher is suitable for.
By using internationally recognized symbols to convey the message we ensure maximum understanding.
Why do we need fire safety signs?
Employers have a duty of care to provide
information on the identification and/or
location of fire equipment.
The standard for portable fire extinguishers
NFPA 10 says:
NFPA 10, 1-6.6
"Fire extinguishers shall not be obstructed or obscured from view. Exception : In large rooms, and in certain locations where visual obstruction cannot be completely avoided, means shall be provided to indicate location."
NFPA 10, 1-6.12
"Fire extinguishers mounted in cabinets or wall recesses shall be placed so that the fire extinguisher operating instructions face outwards. The location of such fire extinguishers shall be marked conspicuously."
Installing fire safety signs ensures that these
requirements are met.
Why photoluminescent ID signs?
- The loss of power and total darkness causes
confusion and panic scenarios for evacuees
from buildings.
- Should lights fail, an extinguisher can still be
readily identified.
